Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Arnold Palmer Invitational
OVERVIEW
We stick around in Florida for another month of events, so we’ll continue to hammer the bermuda putting specialists and those who play well in windy conditions (as it’s known to get a bit windy this time of year). We have yet another year of the Arnold Palmer Invitational without the man himself, and I’m sure Rickie will once again be an honorary ambassador (which comes with it’s own challenges when trying to back a player with more obligations than just being good at his craft). This course/event has a long history, starting with Tiger Woods being an eight-time winner of the event. This is definitely one of those “course history” matters types of events, although we saw last year with Tyrrell Hatton’s win, you don’t have to have it to win. Ball striking (a combination of good driving and good approach shots) is what gets you to the podium to put on the illusive sweater on Sunday, so you’ll see that reflected in this week’s selections. Since this is an “invitational” event, the field is limited to 120 participants, which in past years meant more golfers making it through the cut, but now with the cut rule being Top 65 & ties, we’re looking at almost half of the field being cut after Friday.
