Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Arnold Palmer Invitational
OVERVIEW
This week we get an “Invitational” which means the field is smaller pre-cut (120 players), but the cut rules are still Top 70 at ties. While most people probably don’t think this means much, it actually does as your 6 of 6 lineups will need to feature more players with high finishes/higher scoring than most weeks if you’re looking to maximize returns. Tiger is back in action this week, and there’s sure to be a lot of buzz around him within the industry as he’s a former eight-time winner of this event and turned in a solid performance here last year as well. The course is fairly easy as opposed to what the players saw last week, the rough is a bit thicker and taller, and the greens run firm, fast and true. For one and done purposes you can surely expect Rory to be the highest owned this week as he combines a strong course history and form leading into the event. Henrik Stenson has been a chalky 1AD play year in and year out at this event and even though his play of late hasn’t been all that great, I’m sure many people will continue to try to skirt around burning big names. For me, I’m looking at Day, Rose, Molinari, and possibly Bryson (though I currently have him pegged for this year’s Masters). Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the event, don’t pick him!
