Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Andalucia Valderrama Masters (European Tour Package)
OVERVIEW
Six months after winning his first Masters (and major championship) Sergio Garcia gets to host his first tournament. Valderrama is no stranger to hosting strong competitions as it previously hosted the Volvo Masters, The Ryder Cup, a WGC and The Open de Espana. That being said, these players have plenty of history at this course and we should be able to gleam something from that. Valderrama isn’t a typical Euro Tour course in that it’s not a links course. It’s a Robert Trent Jones Sr. throw-back to the old school country clubs where the fairways are lined with trees and the greens are surrounding by bunkering. I think scrambling and ball striking will be huge stats to target this week as the crème de la crème of Spanish players are strong in both areas and have a deep-rooted history at the course. One last item of note, last year this course hosted the Open de Espana, but prior to that this event hasn’t been played here since 2011 so the history section has multiple finishing places listed for several players, but anything outside the first result came prior to 2012 (in short; we have a small sample size for this course for many players).
