Euro Targets – Porsche European Open (European Tour Package)
What a week at The Open! A great wire-to-wire finish for Jordan Spieth didn’t lack all of the drama and excitement on Sunday. If you didn’t watch, you missed out. Personally, I was on Spieth last week but hindsight is 20/20 and I didn’t have nearly enough of him. Justin Rose underperformed and Stenson was lingering throughout the weekend but couldn’t string anything together of significance. One the fade side, things worked out quite well (outside of RCB) so all in all, a fairly good week on the “Euro” Tour again.
We jump right back in this week with the Porsche European Open as Tours on both side of the world race down the stretch to their respective year-end tournaments. We will see much deeper fields on the Euro side as many of the top players are in the thick of the Race to Dubai and millions of dollars in purse money come the fall. This week we have a few PGA holdovers who played last week and a good amount of European Tour talent participating in the Porsche European Open on a new course for this event.
This week will take place at Green Eagle Golf Course in Hamburg, Germany. The field will be teeing it up on the North Course, one of the longest and most difficult in all of Europe and one of the toughest tests the players will face all season. Couple the long course with wet conditions we’ve been having in Hamburg all week, this thing is going to play looooong. I touch on a few of the longer hitters off the tee below, this will be a big key this week to scoring. We will likely see a score in the high single-digits to low double-digits hoist the trophy come Sunday.
Here’s who stands out in this week’s field on a tough course…
