Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Sony Open
Week 2 of the 2020 PGA Tour year and week 2 of the Hawaii swing as we head to Waialae Country Club on the island of Oahu where a PGA event has been held for the last 55 years. I mentioned it on the podcast, but it bears repeating that there has been a lot of success at Sony from guys who have played in the tournament of champions the week before. Since the tournament of champions moved back to Hawaii 21 years ago, 15 of the 21 Sony Open winners have played in that event. Now some of that could just be the quality of player who has won on the PGA Tour and qualified for the TOC, but there seems to be more to it than just that. It could be being acclimated to the time zone change, the coastal winds, the weather, the Mai Tais, I am not sure, but we see it every year and for that reason I will be giving a little built in edge to guys who played last week.
Waialae is a much different course than Kapalua and I will discuss that below as well as what type of player I will be targeting this week. Week after week we see certain types of players succeed or no succeed on courses where it makes perfect sense because it either fits their game or it doesn’t. This give Team FGI such a huge advantage over much of the rest of the field, as most people don’t even consider this.
Best of luck this week Team FGI!
