Weekend Warriors – Arnold Palmer Invitational
The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings. Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring. Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.
This is a slight change to the regular Weekend Golf article format, feel free to reach out if there’s something you’d like included/brought back.
Thursday/Friday recap
Bay Hill has proven to be a tough test for some with the cut coming at +1 and lots of tough rounds on Friday – Tommy Fleetwood, Brian Harman, Jimmy Walker and Aaron Wise shot a combined +16 while still making it through the cut. That being said, the co-leaders after 36 are Henrik Stenson and Bryson DeChambeau with matching 11-unders, and some very strong rounds out of Charley Hoffman (-6 on the day), Luke List (-5), and Ryan Moore (-5).
Off the tee is proving its importance looking at the leaderboard, with nine of the top-10 gaining strokes on the field in that category (Rickie the lone exception). Play around the green has only really been important in terms of saving bogies, so that can be safely ignored.
With the importance of play off the tee and approach, the top-5 remaining in the field in each category:
Off-the-Tee: Bubba Watson, Byeong Hun An, Bryson DeChambeau, Sean O’Hair, J.B. Holmes
Approach: Rickie Fowler, Talor Gooch, Grayson Murray, Bryson DeChambeau, Ryan Moore
Notable missed cuts: Louis Oosthuizen, Cameron Smith, Brandt Snedeker, Charl Schwartzel, Jason Kokrak, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Scott Stallings, Scott Piercy
