Weekend Warriors – WGC Mexico Championship
The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings. Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring. Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.
This is a slight change to the regular Weekend Golf article format, feel free to reach out if there’s something you’d like included/brought back.
Thursday/Friday recap
Just as everyone expected, it’s 21-year old Shubhankar Sharma leading the way after 36 holes with a score of -11, with three trailing at -9 in Xander Schauffele, Rafa Cabrera Bello, and Sergio Garcia. After an opening round 65 by Chris Paisley and an opening 64 from Louis Oosthuizen, this event was looking more like a European Tour event with all the high-scoring; after Friday, it looked more like a WGC with Garcia, DJ, Bubba, Hoffman and Phil all moving closer to contention.
The course has played noticeably easier than the first time we saw this track, but the tight fairways have hurt notable golfers in Justins Thomas and Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, and Patricks Cantlay and Reed.
Notable missed cuts: no-cut event, no problems.
