Statboy’s Weekend Golf Plays – Hero World Challenge

The Weekend Golf format is very different from the Classic Golf format and it is important to know how to build winning lineups and attack these contests over on DraftKings.  Simply put, Weekend Golf is all about scoring.  Fantasy points for finishing positions are no longer awarded so selecting the right golfers for your lineup will require the right mix of golfers who started off well and others who might just be finding their form for a solid weekend run.

Great importance is put on birdies and eagles and conversely very little is put on bogeys or worse for accumulating fantasy points.  Due to this fact, Birdie or Better % is the primary Key Stat when analyzing golfers.  Par 3, 4, 5 Scoring will also be considered especially when previous success on a specific course had a high correlation to one or more of those Key Stats.

Rounds 1 & 2 Recap for the Hero World Challenge:

Tiger Woods made his latest comeback to competitive golf in the first round of the Hero World Challenge and shot a 3-under 69.  This was a successful first round for the G.O.A.T. and only sat three shots off the lead held by Tommy Fleetwood.  His playing partner and FedExCup champion Justin Thomas also opened with a 69 and felt a little bit rusty after taking a little over a month off from golf.  Other notable first round scores were Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar at 67 and Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose and Kevin Chappell all at 68.

In the second round, Tiger Woods came out firing making birdies on three of his first holes.  He would also go on to eagle the 9^th hole and was bogey-free through his first nine holes.  Tiger would settle down on his back nine where he only had one birdie and a couple of bogeys.  Round 2 was highlighted by Charley Hoffman and his 12 birdies and will be the guy all of the other golfers are chasing over the weekend.  Both Charley’s and Tiger’s Weekend Golf salaries are a joke and I expect both of them to be VERY popular plays.
